American legend Serena Williams is one of the greatest female athletes who has inspired millions of people throughout her career, which lasted over two decades. She has won the most number of Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era with her tally of 23 and the second-best in the history of tennis. But she has often been criticized for various reasons, starting from her out-of-the-box choice of outfits to her physical appearance.
Former Romanian player Ilie Nastase faced some disciplinary actions for his comments on the retired American player. He once hurled some derogatory remarks when the former World No 1 was expecting her first child. Just a few days ahead of the Fed Cup in the year 2017, Nastase accused her unborn child while taking a sly dig at the color of the child. The Romanian has had a terrible impression throughout his career and was also even called a ‘playboy’.
This was not the first time the two-time Grand Slam champion had accused the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Earlier, he had been accused of her physical appearance and doping allegations. However, this time, Nastase went on to say that “Let’s see what color it has. Chocolate with milk?”. Though the Romanian Federation didn’t comment on the matter, the International Tennis Federation quickly launched an investigation against him.
The official statement by ITF stated, “The ITF does not tolerate discriminatory and offensive language and behaviour of any kind. We are aware of alleged comments made by Romanian captain Ilie Nastase and have begun an immediate investigation so that we have the full facts of the situation before taking further and appropriate action.“
Renowned rapper Drake accused Serena Williams and her husband
The former Australian Open champion was rumored to be in a relationship with Canadian rapper-singer-writer Drake, though there had never been any conformation from the alleged couple. The rumors were rubbed off when she got married in 2017 to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and also a successful business in America. But Serena Williams’ past relationship news had always caught attention despite her being happily married.
Drake abused Alexis to be a groupie in one of the songs of his latest album ‘Her Loss’. As expected, this did not go down well with the majority of viewers, as the Canadian musician received a plethora of negative reception for his rude comments. His remarks hinted at the possibility that the Grammy Award winner still isn’t over his past relationship with Serena Williams. Even the couple did not keep quiet and retaliated to all of the accusations by the rapper with utmost dignity and diligence.
