The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has been an important part of the sport, keeping the players and referees in check. By double-checking every action by the players, the organizations are there to take the right action in times of need.

However, they face some sarcasm from the fans after a tight decision on a player. Recently, the ITIA issued a two-year ban on Casey Kania on doping grounds.

The low-ranked American tennis player was issued a 2-year ban after testing positive for marijuana during an ATP Challenger in Cary, NC.

The player did not appeal against this decision, but the agency revealed that the American “did not intentionally breach the provisions.” of the sport’s anti-doping program. Another tennis player, Liam Broady, had a few words to share about this incident.

What a joke. Really going after the big fish here. I’d pay a lot of money to see somebody playing better tennis in THAT heat in Cary after smoking a joint.
Tweeted Broady sarcastically

Furthermore, even the fans had a similar opinion, finding it ridiculous that the organization banned players after they did not consume a performance-enhancing drug but, on the contrary, a recreational drug that is only bad for the player.

Especially under the scorching heat, the American who took the drug was at a disadvantage, and rightly so, he lost the game.

This was another one of the tight calls by the ITIA, which had to reduce a 4-year ban to 2 years after the player had been revealed to have not done it intentionally. This ban was in action on February 2 and will end on February 1, 2026. His results, prize money, and ranking points were all forfeited as he went to the sidelines.

Along with this statement, the ITIA also released one for the Italian tennis player Andrea Rita, who admitted to being part of four breaches of anti-corruption rules

He cooperated with the investigation fully and even accepted the given sanction. For this, he was banned for 15 months. The ITIA continues its strict work when it comes to all kinds of players in every tournament.
