In perhaps the most shocking result of the 2024 Australian Open so far, 19-year-old Linda Noskova defeated tournament-top seed Iga Swiatek in the third round. Noskova, who has a WTA ranking of World No. 50, was a complete underdog ahead of the match, and she defied all odds to defeat the Polish international. 

Iga Swiatek won the first set but the 19-year-old made a wonderful comeback from there to win the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Even Swiatek praised Noskova for her performance and compared her serve to that of Aryna Sabelenka and Elena Rybakina, which made it extremely difficult to read.

Linda Noskova, on the other hand, is full of confidence after defeating the World No. 1. She said that she believed in herself while facing Swiatek, as she had nothing to lose. Talking about her aggressive playing style, the youngster said that at her best, she can defeat anyone. 

I just believed my game tonight.I just really wanted this win because I didn’t really come to that court with the thought of, like, I have nothing to lose. I took it very seriously. I just know that when I'm going to be aggressive, I can play with anyone.

Linda Noskova will face Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina in the fourth round of the 2024 Australian Open. Now that she has eliminated the favorite of the tournament, all eyes will be on her.
