List of records broken by Carlos Alcaraz after winning the 2022 Madrid Open
Carlos Alcaraz
World No. 9 Carlos Alcaraz takes out defending champion Alexander Zverev in the finals of the 2022 Madrid Open to claim his fourth title of the season, the most on the ATP Tour so far. The teenager was the favourite going into the clash given his form and Zverev’s inconsistency and Alcaraz proved why was he the favourite. Alcaraz won the match 6-3, 6-1 in just 62 minutes to take home his second Masters-1000 title of the season.
In a tournament that had World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, King of Clay Rafael Nadal and well-established players like World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas and Zverev himself, Alcaraz was dubbed the title favourite and he showed why is he rated so high as he himself took down Novak, Rafa and Sascha, defeating three of the Top-5 players on the trot to get hold of his first Masters title of a clay event.
