Elena Rybakina overcame 100-1 odds to win the Wimbledon 2022 Ladies’ singles title. Rybakina had to beat a red-hot Ajla Tomljanovic and former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep to make it to the final of Wimbledon. She met world number 2, Ons Jabeur for the ultimate glory and was immediately in a pickle. Rybakina lost the first set 3-6 as she was playing sub-optimally having been broken twice in the first set.

She settled in the match as she came roaring back to win the second set 6-2 and the third set was a similar story as Jabeur completely collapsed under the relentless shots of Rybakina. She also won the third set 6-2 to complete her amazing comeback and lift the Venus Rosewater Dish at SW19. Rybakina, a Russian-born tennis player who shifted to Kazakhstan for financial support, gave the country its first Grand Slam title as a huge return on its investment.
