Elena Rybakina is the only player this year to win multiple WTA 1000 titles

Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina won her maiden WTA 1000 title this year at the Indian Wells Masters. However, her success did not stop here for she became the only player this season to win multiple WTA 1000 titles with her win at the Italian Open. This is a year of firsts for the Kazakhs as she made her maiden qualification into WTA season-ender finals as she ranked World No.5. Petra Kvitova becomes the next player on the list

Another player from the Czech Republic on this elite list is Petra Kvitova. While this is not her first rodeo, Kvitova has been having a dry spell for the last couple of years. With two Grand Slam titles and a staggering nine WTA 1000 titles over the duration of her career, she holds a career high rank of World No.2. However, in the past couple of years, while she has reached a few finals, she has not played the game needed to finish the act. However, she was able to see her game through to the end at the Miami Open.

Aryna Sabalenka hits the nail on the head once again

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka has had a wonderful season this year. Starting with the Australian Open, where she won her maiden Grand Slam, her career has only been going up since then. Adding a cherry to the top is her title at the Madrid Open, where she defeated then World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in a thrilling three set match. Greece’s Maria Sakkari won her maiden WTA 1000 titles after a couple of failed attempts. While she had two final appearances at the Indian Wells Open and at the Guadalajara Open, she finally won her first title. Iga Swiatek does it again

While the Pole had a dry couple of months, she proved that she still had what it took to stay on top of her colleagues. While it is a downgrade from the last season, where she won four WTA 1000 titles, it is still a big achievement for the former World No.1. Her loss at the US Open fourth round saw her lose her World No.1 ranking. However, it seems like things are starting to look up for the Pole once again, as she won the China Open in style.
