Nick Kyrgios is preparing for the most glamorous grand slam of the year. Well, at least fans thought he was. Nick Kyrgios has been displaying some incredible tennis over the last few months. The Australian has been chosen by fans and tennis experts to win the US Open title. On top of that Kyrgios could potentially face his rival World No. 1, Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round.
The US Open will commence on August 29 and will run through September 11. Top players like Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev are not only going to fight for the title but also for the World No.1 position. Meanwhile, Kyrgios has already established himself as the player to watch out for after he reached the final of Wimbledon championship where he lost to Novak Djokovic in a thrilling four-set match. Since then, he has been enjoying a successful North American Swing.

Nick Kyrgios won the Citi Open this year defeating Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Not only did he win the singles title, but he also claimed the doubles trophy as well with his partner Jack Sock. In addition to this Kyrgios also reached the semifinals at the Stuttgart Open as well as the Halle Open.
Kyrgios is eyeing to reach his consecutive grand slam final but that journey for him might be difficult considering he has players like Robert Bautista Agut and Pablo Carreno Busta in his draw. Recently, Nick Kyrgios opened up about competing at the last grand slam of the year, he said, “A big part of me just wants the US Open to be over so I can go home.” Tennis fans on Twitter reacted aggressively to this statement claiming that he isn’t going to win the first round anyway.
Kyrgios will begin his US Open campaign on August 29 where he’ll play fellow Australian and doubles partner, Thanasi Kokkinakis.
