Petra Kvitova surprised her fans with a delightful announcement on Wednesday. Two-time grand slam champion Petra Kvitova announced on social media that she is engaged to her longtime partner and former coach Jiri Vanek. The 32-year old recently appeared in the Western and Southern Open final where she suffered defeat from France’s Caroline Garcia in straight sets, 2-6, 4-6.

Petra Kvitova is having a rough 2022 season with an average 17-15 win-loss stats. The World No. 21 will be looking to win her third grand slam at the 2022 US Open which is about to begin in a week’s time. It’ll run from August 29 to September 11 in USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. Kvitova has previously won two Wimbledon titles – in 2011 and 2014.

Kvitova revealed she was dating Vanek almost a year ago. They first got together in 2020 but they have known each other for almost six years now. They started working together in 2016. Jiri Vanek is a former tennis player as well who was ranked 74 during his professional career. He has been married before to Marketa with whom he shares two children.

This is not the first time Petra is engaged. In 2015, she announced that she was engaged to Czech hockey player Radek Meidl. Kvitova has also dated tennis stars Adam Pavlasek and Radek Stepanek before.

Kvitova got engaged at her ‘Special place’ which is the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon which holds sweet memories for her as she won her two grand slams there. With this announcement, Kvitova got an overwhelmingly supportive response from her fans who congratulated her on the Joyous occasion. Her twitter comments poured in with well wishes from her peers and fans from all around the world.
