“Love you, queens,” Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams reunite in London sending fans into a frenzy
Tennis icons and bitter rivals Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams reunite in London fashion show and the fans can not keep calm.
Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams
On-court rivals Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams gave tennis fans a great treat with one of the most powerful tennis selfies. Former stars of the game reunited at the Moncler Genius Fashion Show in London. And the fans could not keep calm.
The rivalry between the duo has been one of the most celebrated of the 21st century. In terms of head-to-head competition, Williams holds a 20-2 advantage. The clash of similarly aggressive styles of play has generated much media attention in the last couple of decades. But since Sharapova’s retirement in 2020, they have created some close off-court memories.
The Russian former World No. 1 posted a picture of the celebrated icons on Instagram. “Reunited,” her caption read. Both stars oozed similar class, as they did during their peak time in the sport.
The picture was also posted by the noted tennis journalist Jose Morgado which kept Twitter users busy.
Fans in awe about the reunion of Sharapova and Williams
The Selfie posted by Sharapova became an instant hit on social media circles. This is not something the fans get to see frequently. Though it’s not the first time the former table toppers came together in the fashion arena.
Back in 2021, Sharapova met with both Venus and Serena during the Met Gala. That party created a similar noise at the time as well. She’s fun,” Serena said at the time. “We talked, we clicked, we laughed, we talked about tennis and it was really, really fun and I loved it!”
After their most recent hangout, fans wished for more such reunions. “More of this,” one of the users wrote. Another user pointed out how far they have come after their bitter rivalry. Take a look at some of the interesting tweets.
