Former Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova is set to return to tennis but in a different role. In a recent interview on a podcast show, the Russian shared the possibility of becoming a commentator for the sport in the future.
Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam title champion, has been one of the top Russian players for a long time before retiring in 2020. Since then, the 36-year-old has focused on her personal life, spending time with her family as well as welcoming her first child last July. As a person who talks a lot, the former Grand Slam winner believes that she would make a great commentator and would surely try out as one.
I'm not someone who talks a lot, I don't talk all the time just to talk. I'm more of an observer. When I'm confident, I've done enough research and I'm convinced, I want to say what I feel. That’s why I said I could be a good commentator because I don’t like talking for nothing.said Sharapova in a recent podcast called Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard
The Russian is rarely seen attending many tennis tournaments and events. The last time she was seen was at the Canadian Open, where the 36-year-old was seen chatting with the youngsters, possibly sharing her valuable experience on the court.
As one of the promising youngsters back in her time, she did exceptionally well to become one of the only Russians to win a Grand Slam for her country.
Maria Sharapova shares a few inspiring words that her mother once told her
Maria Sharapova, one of the best Russian tennis players out there, has done well in her career to win five Grand Slams and a silver medal at the Olympics. While many have seen the confident woman that she is right now, not many know that the actual motivation for the Russian comes from her mother.
In the recent podcast episode, the Russian shares a few strong words that her mother once told her as a lesson in motivation. She revealed that her mother always wanted her to work hard, and the fruits of this hardship would eventually appear in one form or another.
In addition to this, the five-time Grand Slam champion shared that her mother did not care about the table rankings and only wanted her daughter to stay humble and true to the sport.
These were some important life values that any mother would teach their child, and Sharapova was lucky enough to be inspired by her mother, which would help her handle both successes and failures.
