Czech tennis professional Marketa Vondrousova has been one of the favorites at the WTA Finals. She started her WTA campaign against former World No. 1 Iga Swiatek on Monday and put on a great show for the fans in this stadium. Despite losing the match, Vondrousova gave a great fight, making Swiatek work hard for the first set, which had to be decided by a tiebreaker.

In the very next set, Marketa could be seen visibly frustrated and annoyed by giving away easy points and committing silly errors. She ultimately lost the match by a scoreline of 6-7, 0-6. However, Interestingly, she blamed the management of the tournament for her loss against the former World No. 1. As per the tennis professional herself, the stadium is yet to be game-ready and needs even more work.

My first WTA finals is not at all what I imagined. We work hard all year to get to the finals & in the end, it's just a disappointment.

The stadium is not at all ready for the matches & to me it feels like the people from WTA are absolutely not interested in how we, who are supposed to play on that court, feel. We do not feel that anyone listens to us or are interested in our opinion. It’s very sad. On the another note, I am really grateful to all the people here in Mexico for being so nice & very helpful with everything.

Marketa Vondrousova’s chances of qualification to the semis

Having lost her first group stage match at the WTA Finals, things are not looking great for the Czech star at the moment. She has two more games to play against the third-seed Coco Gauff and the fifth-seed Ons Jabeur. Coco Gauff is on an epic run, and that game would be one of the toughest matches for Vondrousova, and the odds are against her.

She has a good record against Jabeur, beating her a few months ago at the Wimbledon final to lift her maiden Grand Slam title. However, a single win is not going to guarantee her a spot in the semis by any means.

With that being said, it seems like Vondrousova needs to win both of her remaining matches to ensure her entry into the semi-final
