Mats Wilander says that the GOAT race is becoming irrelevant amid controversies regarding Novak Djokovic

The GOAT race has been ongoing for years now, but it has settled down ever since the pandemic in the words of Swedish tennis legend, Mats Wilander, the 58-year-old former world number 1 thinks that the GOAT race between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic is slowly becoming irrelevant and unfair as controversies regarding Novak Djokovic continue to rise.

Talking in an interview with Eurosport, Mats Wilander said, “The GOAT race between the Big 3 is becoming irrelevant because Novak is not allowed to play. We will just remember that the three greatest players on the men’s side of all time happened to play at the same time.

Novak Djokovic’s problems continue to be a hindrance as he was barred from competing at the Australian Open earlier this year and now he has officially withdrawn from the upcoming US Open. Djokovic has been unable to participate in this event due to his stance regarding the Covid-19 vaccine. The Serb decided against getting vaccinated for the virus due to which he was barred from entering various countries as their immigration rules do not allow unvaccinated foreigners into the country which resulted in Djokovic missing out on many big tournaments this year.
