Mats Wilander backs Alexander Zverev to beat Rafael Nadal and reach his maiden French Open Final

Rafael Nadal has always been a supporter of playing day matches in the French Open, but he was given the night match against the world number 1, Novak Djokovic and it looks like the night conditions worked perfectly fine for the thirteen-time French Open champion. He will face Alexander Zverev in the semifinal of the French Open. It is supposed to be a tough match for Nadal given the condition of his body these past few months.
Nadal has not shown the slightest of wear and tear from his injuries. He has been hitting the ball fiercely and his movements have been great as well. But, given the hot conditions of the match, it is expected that Nadal will have a slightly harder time than Zverev in adjusting to the conditions and if the match goes into five sets, it would be more difficult for Nadal than it would be for Zverev.
Mats Wilander believes hot weather would favor Alexander Zverev.
Mats Wilander, the former world number 1 believes that Zverev will edge out Nadal in their semifinal clash. For the Eurosport, he said:
“I am expecting a very close match. The weather conditions are going to be very important. For once, the sun and hot is not going to favor Nadal, it’s going to be great for Sasha Zverev, for his first serve. It’s going to be nearly impossible to return and if that’s the case, he can relax a little bit in Rafa’s service games, which is the only chance I think he has”
” He doesn’t mind hitting high backhands, cross-court with Rafa’s forehands, and Zverev has a really good top spin cross-court forehand. If all these things work, then he has a chance, but of course, beating Rafa in five sets, there’s more than playing well you have to do. Rafa is a slight favorite in my eyes, but hot weather would favor Zverev, I think.”
