Matteo Berrettini, the Italian tennis ace, has had a tough season this year filled with injuries. He did not play most of the tournaments this time and in the ones that he played in; he was not able to have a successful run in those.
Berrettini recently released a post on his Instagram handle expressing his injury concerns and stated that he will not be able to participate in the ATP Finals at Turin this year. The Italian also mentioned:
Despite training at a high level for a few weeks my medical team has advised it would be a risk to compete in the final tournaments of the ATP season.

The 2021 Wimbledon finalist suffered an early exit from the Australian Open and took a break to return to the Mexican Open, where he again faltered during the early stages of the tournament. The Italian suffered a major injury during the second round of the US Open, which forced him to stay out of the Davis Cup as well.
Matteo Berrettini talked about using this time to work on his fitness so that he will be able to come back stronger in the next season. He mentioned:
It has been very difficult to accept this but I need to do what is best for next season and my long term career. I will take this opportunity to reset, re-build and start the year fully fit and healthy.
