The Miami Open got off to quite an exciting start. From the very first round, some exciting matches were lined up for the day. One of those matches was the clash between Andy Murray and the Italian Matteo Berrettini. 

It was the first ATP tournament since the US Open for the Italian, who returned from an injury. However, unfortunately, he was up against Murray, who was eager for some form, as he consistently tried his luck in many tournaments.

Many who were awaiting the return of the Italian watched the match and seemed to be enjoying the comeback to its full extent. Interestingly enough, there was even a fan who was ready to trade her boyfriend for Berrettini’s racket. During the second set of the match, the camera panned around to feature some of the fans, only to capture a couple who were holding two pretty hilarious signs.

While her boyfriend stood next to her with a “please no” board. Well, it was a couple of seconds of entertainment for the whole world, but it sure made the match a bit more interesting. 

It was indeed quite an offer for Berrettini, who received immense love and support from the fans on his return. Despite a good start, the Italian was unable to maintain the lead and lost to Murray 6-4, 3-6,4-6.

Italy’s star, Matteo Berrettini, finally made his return to court. After suffering a major injury at the 2023 US Open, the Italian was out for most of the year and healed completely before making an appearance.

The 2021 Wimbledon finalist was set to make a return at the Australian Open but could not. However, Berrettini was back at the Miami Open and put in a match against Andy Murray, who needed some wins. 

Both players fought for every point on a roller-coaster of a match. While Berrettini took the first set, he could not keep up the lead and eventually lost to the Brit. The Italian could not survive the heat and lost his energy in the match. With this, Murray secured a first-round win and set up a second-round clash against Tomas Etcheverry
