Mikaela Shiffrin welcomed Iga Swiatek to ‘Team Visa,’ as she posted a message for the Polish tennis player on her social media account. The American alpine skier heaped praise on the world number one, as she stated that the Pole was a big inspiration for her.

Undeniably, Shiffrin stands as one of the all-time greats in skiing, having secured an impressive five World Cup titles. The 28-year-old recently shared a video on her social media, extending a warm welcome to Iga Swiatek into the ‘Team Visa’ fold. Swiatek joins as a brand ambassador, contributing to the support of philanthropic initiatives.

Iga Swiatek has been one of the most prominent names in the sporting community over the past couple of years. She broke onto the big stage back in 2020, when she claimed the French Open title. From then on, she gained a lot of popularity, which explains her new arrangement with Visa. Her efforts with Team Visa will range from creating mental health awareness and providing relief measures for children in Ukraine.

Iga Swiatek was delighted with her association with Visa and looks forward to fulfilling her responsibilities in the near future. The Polish tennis player said, “I started my career in tennis at a young age and even if I’m still learning, I’m trying to use my voice and become a role model for other young people. Joining Team Visa with so many incredible athletes will help me continue to advocate for what’s important to me, advancing the sport and social issues that matter most to me.”

Iga Swiatek has shown her unwavering support towards Ukraine in the ongoing war situation. She continues to carry a feather on her cap with the Ukrainian flag, as she has been quite vocal about her stand. Hence, it comes as no surprise, when Visa appointed her as the Brand Ambassador to conduct relief activities for the welfare of children in Ukraine.

Iga Swiatek recently competed at the Cincinnati Open, where she was defeated in the semifinals by Coco Gauff in three sets. This was her first loss against the Americans, who came back from a set down to reach the finals. The world number one ranked player will now look to defend her title at the US Open, which kickstarts next week.
