Boxing legend Mike Tyson was spotted watching the semi-final match of the 2023 French Open between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Friday (June 9). The former heavyweight boxer, who sported a yellow polo shirt, was spotted on TV capturing the match with his phone. He has often expressed his admiration for tennis and was regularly seen at the US Open. His daughter Milan is also a budding tennis player.

In that semifinal, it won’t be wrong to say that crowd was rooting for the Spaniard because of Djokovic’s past controversies. But one among many was by the Serb’s side- the boxing legend himself. He was spotted watching the final also between the Serb and Casper Ruud.

Novak Djokovic, the only player in the Big 3, who is featuring in the ongoing 2023 French Open, broke the ultimate record of clinching the most Grand Slam titles. He was previously tied with Rafael Nadal with 22 of those titles, and after the Serb’s win over 4th seed Casper Ruud, it created a historic moment for both Djokovic and tennis as a whole.

With Federer retired and Nadal injured, Djokovic did not this opportunity and did do his best to dismantle the Norwegian, who has reached three of his last five Grand Slam finals, including the Roland Garros last year where he faced a three-set defeat from Nadal.

Prior to the French Open, Djokovic won just two trophies this year- the Adelaide Open and the Australian Open. Since that hard-court events, he couldn’t taste much success, even struggled on clay courts prior to the French Open, which saw him losing his top spot in the rankings to Carlos Alcaraz. And now after this win at this current tournament, he will once again return to the No.1 ranking.

History is always something that’s hovering over me, but I’m very happy to be in this position to write history of this sport,” he said as per the ATP Tour. “Pressure is always on my shoulders, so it’s not going to be different.”
