The 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva is off to a flying start in the 2023 French Open as she beat Alison Riske-Amritraj in the first round. Mirra Andreeva is a prodigy and a future star of tennis. She recently made it to the fourth round of the 2023 Madrid Open before getting knocked out by Aryna Sabalenka.
Andreeva’s match against Alison Riske-Amritraj was her first Grand Slam match, which she convincingly won with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Andreeva’s comment, during the Madrid Open, about her idol Andy Murray being beautiful, became quite popular. Referencing to that, a Tennis Channel asked her if she had met any other beautiful person in the French Open. Andreeva took Coco Gauff’s name.
Mirra Andreeva said, “I actually practiced with Coco here. She’s so good. But she plays so fast and she plays so aggressively and she’s so nice. She was so nice. Oh my god. So yes, I can say that Coco is the most beautiful face for now that I’ve seen here,” she added.
Andreeva was impressed by the 19-year-old Coco Gauff. She was impressed by how Coco treated her and introduced herself. Andreeva also complimented Gauff’s playstyle. Andreeva is set to face Diane Parry in the second round of the 2023 French Open.
Mirra Andreeva on her thumping win against Aryna Sabalenka
Mirra Andreeva, at only 16 years of age, has made it to the second round of the 2023 French Open. Andreeva beat Alison Riske-Amritraj in the first round which was her maiden Grand Slam match.
Andreeva had a good run in the 2023 Madrid Open before beating Aryna Sabalenka. In the post-match press conference after the French Open match, Andreeva talked about being overwhelmed by Sabalenka.
“Honestly, she kicked my a**. I’m sorry, but she really did. At that time I didn’t really have time to think between the points,” said Andreeva. She also added that Sabalenka’s fast-paced play gave her little time to strategize or make a comeback. Andreeva mentioned that it was a good lesson for her. She had an experience of how the competition is at the very top of the game.
