There are moments when you prove everything against you wrong and bounce back. The 2023 French Open had an infamous moment which wasn’t appreciated by many. The doubles encounter between Miyu Kato & Aldila Sutjiadi and Marie Bouzkova & Sara Sorribes Tormo saw the Asian pair getting disqualified.

Miyu Kato had unintentionally hit the baseline ball girl as she looked to pass the ball. However, it came off like a bullet from the racket and hit the girl on the head. The Chair Umpire didn’t seem to mind it as it was unintentional and issued the pair a warning.

However, to everyone’s surprise, the European duo of Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo were appealing that their opponents should be disqualified and the umpire agreed. It was a bad and low point in Miyu Kato’s career. She was guilty of costing her partner a title too. However, the beauty of sport is that it gives you a chance to bounce back. Competing in the mixed doubles draw, she was determined to win it.

With her partner Tim Putz, she came out with intensity and has scripted one of the better comebacks of this generation- disqualified from one event and ended up winning the other. “Congratulations to Bianca & Michael. It was a great match. To my partner Tim, I’m so glad I have you. Thank you for always supporting me & cheering me up. To my coach, thank you for always being with me. It has been really challenging mentally after disqualification,” she said after winning the title.
