The Danish teenager, Holger Rune recalls his famous victory over Novak Djokovic and claims it to be his most important moment. The world No.9 upset the six-time Paris Masters champion last year and notched a memorable win in his career. His title quest in the Paris Masters was impeccable as he defeated five top ten players to win his title. He was also the youngest player to win the title since Boris Becker.

In the three-set final, he defeated Novak after being a set down 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. It was an extraordinary tournament for the teenager and no top seed had answers to this unseeded player. Rune recalled his final match against Nole and said it was the most important moment of his life. And also added by saying that match gave him a lot of confidence going forward in his career.

Rune spoke about this match in the press conference in Montpellier and said “It was a very good moment for me. It was the most important moment of my career and perhaps my life. It was a huge success. Knowing that I can play at this level and beat this guy also gave me confidence and high hopes for this year. But I know how much effort and work I put into it, so I know what it’s worth.”

Rune went into the tournament as an unseeded player and defeated top players like Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz, Felix-Auger Aliassime, and Novak Djokovic in successive matches. The tennis world got stunned by this teenager’s game and experts rated him as a very highly talented player. He soon reached the top ten rankings of the ATP.

Holger Rune continues to dominate and makes his mark

Holger Rune had a good start to 2023 as he reached the fourth round of the Australian Open before losing to Andrey Rublev in an epic five-setter. He is currently playing in the Open Sud De France as the top seed. He won his first match pretty comfortably and is set to play quarterfinals later tonight.

Rune recently talked to Tennis Majors about his working experience with Patrick Mouratoglou and said “We’re going to continue, yes. Last year was obviously great. This year has been very good, too. And it’s nice to have him by my side. We have a very good time together, together with Lars (Christensen, his long-time coach) and my mum. The whole team is improving, everybody is open and I’m happy with how I’ve built my team.”
