It was yet another poor outing at a major tournament for US Open champion Emma Raducanu as she crashed out of Wimbledon 2022 in the second round after losing to Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia in straight sets 3-6,3-6. Raducanu, at no time in the match, looked in control and was struggling to keep up with Garcia who was toying her around the centre court.

Ever since winning the US Open, Raducanu hasn’t produced any solid results and hasn’t won more than two matches in any tournament she has played. It is more shocking when we consider that Raducanu won the US Open as a qualifier without dropping a set and dominated each of her opponents.

Despite losing the match and crashing out of Wimbledon at an early stage, Raducanu will make her top 10 debut as players around her will significantly lose points and drop further in the rankings. A lot was promised of Raducanu after her mega triumph in New York and she was even projected as the next big thing but so far, she has failed miserably.

This is her first full season on the WTA tour and hence she could be excused. While some people backed her to do well in the future, majority of them trolled her and called her overrated. Many even questioned her US Open victory and termed it as a fluke.
