“Most overrated player of all time!” Emma Raducanu faces harsh criticism after Alize Cornet knocks her out of US Open

Things have gone from bad to worse for Emma Raducanu as she gets knocked out of the opening round of the 2022 US Open by Frenchwoman Alize Cornet. Raducanu, who was defending her title, lost in straight sets 3-6,3-6 and as a result, will drop a massive 2030 ranking points.
The Brit had underperformed massively after her US Open triumph last year but since it was her first full season, didn’t drop any points and was rising up the ranks. She reached as high as No.10 in the world without even playing a tour semifinal this year but now, will drop out of the Top 80 of the world.
Against Cornet, Raducanu played well but didn’t have enough weapons to close out some points. She was matching Cornet’s intensity but her arsenal from the baseline wasn’t up to the mark. She played many loose points and conceded a decisive break late in the opening set which Cornet capitalized. The scenario was repeated in the second set too and Cornet broke the US Open champion to cause a big upset.

Twitter slams Emma Raducanu for losing her title defense opener
Tennis fans, who were already upset with Raducanu for her performances over the season were raging about this outcome. Raducanu has managed to reach just two quarterfinals on the tour after winning in New York last year and has been playing poor tennis ever since. Many expected her to do well this fortnight in her title defense but once again, she disappointed everyone.
Fans termed her as the ‘most overrated player of all time’ while some called her the ‘worst grand slam champion ever’. They also questioned her about her coach and blamed the whole coaching situation as the reason for her poor results.
