“My career has always been a priority, but it has not prevented me from dating my friends and having fun”: Rafael Nadal
One of the best tennis players of all time, Rafael Nadal holds the record for the most singles Grand Slam victories. With his back-to-back victories in the 2022 Australian Open and 2022 French Open, he overtook Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Given that he has won 14 championships at the Roland Garros, he is considered to be the “undisputed” King of the event.
He had a chance to pursue the calendar Grand Slam, but he was forced to quit at Wimbledon before his semifinal match due to an abdominal injury. Currently, he is recovering and making the most of his time to get recharged and recovered for the hard-court season.
“Don’t forget to have fun” Rafael Nadal reminds youngsters to have fun
During the recent interview he gave to the Iberia air company, Rafael Nadal spoke about becoming a coach after retirement. Though he ruled out the possibility of taking up coaching, he did not forget to pay a heartfelt tribute to his coach, Toni Nadal. On being asked what advice he would give his younger self for the younger lot, he said,
“I don’t have the study of giving advice, but I always say that to be a professional or to dedicate your life to something, you have to put other things aside.” He continued, “My career has always been a priority, but it has not prevented me from dating my friends and having fun, doing the things that a normal young person does, even if I do them less often. This is the advice I would give to young people: don’t forget to have fun, fight for your dreams and surround yourself with good people. This is what we are trying to do with them at the Academy.”
