Japanese-American tennis player Naomi Osaka is set to make her much-anticipated return to the court soon at the 2023 Brisbane International in order to prepare herself well for the ultimate target, the 2024 Australian Open.
Talking about her return, tennis legend Pam Shriver recently opined that Naomi Osaka must draw inspiration from players like Serena Williams, Elina Svitolina, and Victoria Azarenka.

For the unitiated, Naomi Osaka last competed back in September 2022 in the Pan Pacific Open and announced that she would be away from the court due to her pregnancy as she wanted to focus on her family.
Before that, the player also announced that she was suffering from mental health issues, which led her to take a break in 2021. Notably, this makes her return even more special. Naomi and her long-time boyfriend Cordae welcomed their first child, Shai (a girl), in July 2023.
It’s fascinating. I think Osaka’s got to be very inspired by some very successful maternity ladies before her, Victoria Azarenka, Serena Williams, Tatjana Maria, and Elina Svitolina. This one has more intrigue because of the mental duress discussions that led up to the maternity leave.Pam Shiver said via We love Tennis
Continuing further, she added:
I think she comes back strong, with the perspective that you’ve got great things to look forward to at home. I’m looking forward to seeing her in Australia.
Victoria Azarenka, Tatjana Maria, Elina Svitolina, and Serena Williams all returned to tennis after their pregnancies and set brilliant examples. Naomi Osaka is hands down one of the most dynamic women’s tennis players of the current generation, and her return is expected to cause a stir in the WTA.
She has won four Grand Slam titles, the same as current World No. 1 Iga Swiatek. The level of competition will definitely increase with the return of the two-time Australian Open winner.
