Naomi Osaka has shared a very special ‘thank you’ note for her fans on her social media accounts ahead of her much-awaited comeback at the 2023 Brisbane International. The Japanese tennis star will make her return to the court after over a year.

She played her last match in September 2022. In January 2023, Osaka announced that she and her boyfriend, Cordae, were pregnant with their firstborn. In July, she gave birth to her baby girl, Shai, and is finally ready to make a spectacular comeback.

In Osaka’s message that she addressed to ‘everyone that supported me throughout the years’, she thanked her fans for putting up with her through thick and thin. She admitted that over the course of her career, she has done some things that could have been dealt with in a better way. Yet, her fans showed patience and the four-time Grand Slam winner is grateful for that.

Thank you. Thank you for believing in me and thank you for putting up with me. I know we've shared some really amazing memories and I also know that I've done some things that I wishI would've handled differently (lol). Regardless of all that, thank you for allowing me to grow up on my own time and thank you for showing me a ton of patience. I don't know what I did to deserve you all but I'm so extremely grateful

Osaka added that she was honored to be going on what she called ‘Chapter 2’ of her tennis journey. On Instagram, the Japanese ace also shared a video from her childhood, where she is probably in a playschool. She is eating something in the video and smiles adorably at the end of it.

Naomi Osaka reveals how her relationship with boyfriend Cordae has been affected by the birth of their daughter Shai

Osaka’s daughter Shai is almost five-month-old, and now the tennis star is on the verge of making her comeback at the 2023 Brisbane International. It is extremely difficult to maintain two things at the same time and she revealed that her boyfriend, Cordae, who is also Shai’s father, has helped her a lot throughout the process. Naomi said that his ‘easygoing’ nature really helped ease things out.

I don't know if it's because he's just an easygoing guy, but I think we just respect each other's opinions. And if we disagree on something, we talk it out. At the end of the day, we both want what's best for Shai.

Naomi Osaka’s main goal is to play at the 2024 Australian Open. However, she needs to be match-fit before stepping into a Grand Slam and thus, she chose the Brisbane International, which starts on December 31, 2023, to make her comeback.
