World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has opened up about her experience with Netflix’s Break Point. As the OTT giant scrapped the tennis documentary series only after two seasons, Swiatek explained the possible reason behind the decision. The Pole also talked about her experience and revealed why she did not take part in the second season.

Iga Swiatek claimed that working with Netflix for the first season of Break Point drew unnecessary hate and criticism. The 22-year-old also revealed that players did not have much say in what would be edited or kept for the viewers to see. Swiatek rued not having enough control over the editing process.

The four-time Grand Slam champion feels that this might be one of the reasons for the OTT giant scrapping the tennis documentary series. However, she did not flag this as the sole reason behind the show not getting the same attention and love as the documentary series made on golf and Formula 1.

Honestly, it's hard for me to compare why it didn't work out in tennis but it did in golf and Formula 1. But I can only speak about my perspective. I think that the Netflix guys were really nice and really cooperative but in the end there wasn't much impact we had in terms of editing some stuff we didn't like.

The Polish ace also claimed that there was some misinterpretation of information which led to her decision to not take part in the second season.

I know I didn't give, like, much access, as much as other players. I accepted that I may not have the final voice, but there were some stuff that were, like, misinterpreted. My appearance in this series kind of caused some hate towards me and my team. So I just wanted to, you know, live my life peacefully and do my job, so that's why I didn't get into the second season.

Iga Swiatek flags false information in second season of Break Point

While Iga Swiatek flagged players not having much control over editing as one of the many reasons for Netflix’s Break Point not getting the same love as other sporting documentaries, the 22-year-old also pointed out an issue with false information in the second season.

Iga Swiatek highlighted how there was a noticeable mistake in the episode featuring Aryna Sabalenka. The Polish ace talked about the Grand Slam final featuring the Belarusian and Kazakh ace Elena Rybakina. Swiatek highlighted the exact mistake in the episode and claimed that any tennis fan could identify such errors.

Honestly, I don't want to criticize or something, but I also saw some memes about editing and how, you know, Aryna, there was a match -- I think here, the final, Aryna's and Elena's, she was serving on deuce and then Elena was returning from advantage side. And I think anybody who knows tennis is going to notice.
Iga Swiatek pointed out

Notably, the second season of Break Point was released in January this year. Unlike the first season, the second season drew flak for many reasons. German tennis ace Alexander Zverev getting an entire episode also caused much uproar among the fans.
