In a recent interview, given to the Australian Open website, Mr. Tiley talked about different aspects of this tennis season and what he expects in the 2023 season. He wishes all players to play to their full potential and wants everybody to have fun.

He was very happy to see new, young and talented players playing great tennis. However, he still believes that older players are equally great and want them to display their best on the court.

“On the women’s side, it’s amazing to think that Coco Gauff, who reached the final in Paris, is only 18 and now in the top 10 – she’s absolutely on her way to Grand Prix glory. Slam and has everything it takes to be a major winner. But history shows us that experienced champions should not be discarded too quickly. Roger (Federer) and Serena (Williams) showed it in the past and Rafa (Nadal) showed it this year,” he said.

Mr. Tiley also acknowledged the fact that players love to play tennis on the hard court at Melbourne Park and views this grand slam as a major challenge.

“Medvedev, Djokovic (if he comes), Zverev, Tsitsipas, Murray, and Thiem have all shown they love playing at Melbourne Park. And of course, Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur are also in the running. Nick’s exceptional journey to the Wimbledon final, his doubles victory with Thanasi (Kokkinakis) here at the AO in January, and his performances in New York show how dangerous he can be, and I know he is very motivated to give his best in Melbourne in January,” Mr. Tiley said.
