“Never know what will come out of his mouth,” Casper Ruud apprises on bickers with Nick Kyrgios rivalry

Casper Ruud & Nick Kyrgios

After much anticipated Casper Ruud and Nick Kyrgios semi-finals face-off at the US Open 2022, the on and off-court rivalry of the duo finally seems to hit a cooling-off point as the Norwegian tennis professional confessed to his feelings for the same.

The duo was predicted to battle for the Grand Slam finals position in the semi-finals round when unfortunately Kyrgios lost the quarter-final round to Karen Khachanov, ultimately tying up Casper with his opponent for the clash. The long-standing beef between the players according to Casper has now admittedly cooled down after 3 years of frequent spatting.

“We didn’t say hi in the locker room,” Casper Ruud on his long-standing rivalry with Nick Kyrgios prevailing into better terms

Casper Ruud

Casper Ruud, currently world No. 7, in a post-match press conference at Flushing revealed details of how things lately have been going between the two saying “I mean, we didn’t say hi in the locker room for some time, but we do now, so it’s better. There was a time where it was a bit probably tense after things were said back and forth, but he actually came to me in Laver Cup last year and congratulated me when I won my match, which was nice.”

Prevalent to administer things from a constructive viewpoint, Casper concluded his bumps with Nick Kyrgios at the ongoing US Open quoting “I think it’s easier now, and things have been forgotten. Things have been said, but there is no need to dwell on the past. I mean, he’s, yeah, an exciting player always to watch, and you never know what’s gonna come out of his racquet or his mouth, but in the end, at least he came to me and said that he was happy to see me play well. So that was nice.”

The feud between the two has been dominant in the global tennis circuit since 2019 which was initiated by the infamous ‘Bad Boy of Tennis’, Kyrgios, who had an on-court outburst of throwing chairs at the crowd at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, ending with the Aussie attaining himself a call-out from Casper who in a press release said he’s “an idiot.” This further was sustained by the Aussie when addressed the media saying he’d “rather watch paint dry” than watch the Norwegian play tennis.
