Serena Williams, the 40-year-old American professional is widely considered to be the greatest female tennis player of all time, with 23 grand slam titles to her name, Serena Williams has etched her name in the history books alongside many other elites of the game, Williams is widely credited with revolutionizing the women’s game by millions as well.

The American professional has played only a number of matches this season, she was eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon this year by Harmony Tan, and she bowed out in the second round of the Canadian Open and in the first round of the Cincinnati Open by the hands of Emma Raducanu.

Serena Williams dropped a bombshell on the tennis world recently as she announced her imminent retirement from tennis, Williams who has been igniting this stage for decades has finally gotten ready to call it quits on a truly remarkable career filled with titles. Serena announced that she will be retiring from the sport after competing at the US Open which is right around the corner.

But there seems to have been some development as Serena came as a guest in the ‘A Conversation with Champions’ event on Thursday and talked about if she could be present at the Australian Open next year, to which she replied, “I don’t think so. You never know, I’ve learned in my career, never say never.

It is clear the Williams plans on retiring for good after competing at this year’s US Open but her never say never attitude has put everyone in a fix and it seems unclear whether or not, Serena will be competing after the tournament at the Flushing Meadows this season. Fans would be ecstatic to see Williams compete at the US Open this year as it is the final tournament of her career and the American icon is sure to get a huge reception going into this tournament.

Serena Williams has been drawn to play against Danka Kovinic in the first round of the 2022 US Open, the American professional would be looking to go all out for one last time.
