Roger Federer is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time and has etched his name in the history of tennis with his 103 ATP titles, the second most by a player in the Open era. His chivalrous attitude and grace on and off the court have left an impression in the minds of everyone as he is looked up to by many players. He is the first player of the Big 3 to step away from the competitive world.
Nicolas Almagro, the former professional tennis player from Spain was in complete appreciation for the Swiss maestro and his exemplary contribution to the world of tennis. He even believes that with Federer’s retirement, tennis will lose a diamond and his presence will be deeply missed. Almagro even compared the level of greatness and the legacy Federer will leave behind with America’s two best athletes in the world- Michael Jordan of basketball and Tiger Woods of golf who created a niche out of their own.
Almagro said that “It is a significant loss for everything that has changed our sport since his arrival, he raised it to a higher level as Tiger Woods did with golf or Michael Jordan with basketball. Hopefully, the next generations will remain faithful to the legacy that he leaves, so we will be sure that everything that comes is much better“.
He further added “Playing against Federer is a different experience from facing any other player. With Roger, you have the feeling at all times that he is playing with you, that he is playing what he wants at all times“.

Roger Federer penned down a heartfelt note on his social media account announcing his retirement from the professional world where he revealed about playing his farewell match at the Laver Cup but will still continue to play tennis but not as a Pro hinting at playing some exhibition matches only if his health and body permits.
He received a huge farewell at the Laver Cup as he played his final match on the first day alongside Rafael Nadal in the doubles and was beaten by John McEnroe‘s-led Team World players Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. It is quite ironic that Federer lost all his final matches of his career and even his final team event tournament as Team World defeated Team Europe for the very first time in the history of the tournament.
Federer took to his social media where he opened up about being happy with the kind of farewell he received and having no regrets about not getting a fairytale end to his journey as he was joined by his family and friends on his special day and especially having the biggest rivals of his career on the same team for the very final time and getting a chance to gather precious moments keeping aside their rivalries.
