Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic are set to partner up to participate in men’s doubles. Kyrgios’ new Instagram post seems to confirm the pairing, much to the delight of their fans. The Australian posted a photo of the two players from Wimbledon with the caption, ”new doubles this year…. Loading……?? @djokernole you ready??!!”
As expected, the post gathered the attention of tennis fans around the world, boasting over a whooping 80,000 likes in just three hours. Judging by the comments, the majority of fans are just thrilled to witness the ultimate pairing, as they are eagerly waiting for more official information. However, at the time of writing, there is no news about which tournament they will team up at, however. The two tennis stars have become close since Kyrgios supported Djokovic amid the controversy at the last Australian Open.
The Djokovic family thanked the Australian for their support. Djordje Djokovic, brother of Novak, even wanted to invite Kyrgios to Serbia. Djokovic and Kyrgios were set to pair up earlier at Indian Wells. However, due to his unvaccinated status, the popular personality didn’t travel to the United States, missing the prestigious US Open too.
The two players have had their share of battles on the court. Kyrgios had a great Wimbledon but fell to Djokovic in four sets in the final. Moreover, the duo even revealed that they would have a meal post that matches, and the winner was to pick up the bill. As Kyrgios puts it, the two have developed a bit of a ‘bromance’ in 2022.
The two men have previously played with a lot of different doubles partners. Kyrgios was recently paired with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The pair had not faced each other since an ill-tempered Wimbledon clash. Djokovic last played doubles at the Laver Cup.

Novak Djokovic and Nick Krygios’ previous doubles partners

Djokovic and Kyrgios have been active doubles players. Kyrgios won the 2022 Australian Open doubles title with partner Thanasi Kokkinakis. He intends to defend his title as the pair have also signed up at this year’s Australian Open. Kyrgios holds four doubles titles. He has previously found success with American Jack Sock, winning the Lyon and Washington Open together.
Djokovic has been less active recently. He has a solitary doubles title, the Queen’s Club Championship he captured with Israeli player Jonathan Erlich in 2010. He has, however, decided to participate with his friend Vasek Pospisil in the Adelaide Open men’s doubles.
Djokovic’s aim will be to play more matches in the build-up to the Australian Open. Nick Kyrgios will also be looking to get up to speed after pulling out of the United Cup in Brisbane with an ankle injury. Both players will surely relish a chance to go up against each other at the first Grand Slam of the year before linking up at a tournament in the future.
