Last year’s Wimbledon runners-up Nick Krygios has fired some brace shots at beating Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon Championships this year. Nick couldn’t perform this year and decided to pull away from the tournament right before the first round due to injury. He has since followed other players very closely putting his views on their performances and who leads the race to win the competition.

Krygios stated way back on the 5th of July that beating Djokovic on grass, especially at the Centre Court is impossible and only he can do that. He believed that no players playing this year are gallant and worthy enough to defeat the Serbian and that Djokovic will wrap up the title yet again this year with ease.

Now after Carlos Alcaraz‘s brilliant comeback win emerging as the new champion at the helm of the sport, thereby breaking Djokovic’s four-year reign at the competition has attracted some criticism for the Australian.

As Alcaraz defeated Djokovic on Sunday at the Centre Court, fans all over the world have started bashing the Australian for his statements with several even referring him to as a “clown”. One fan went on to compare Nick‘s whole career accolades with Alcaraz’s achievements in the past two years stating that the Australian needs to focus on his game more than this mouth.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say.

Leading up to the Wimbledon Championships, Alcaraz did not have much experience playing on grass courts but boosted his confidence by winning the Queen’s Club Championships just two weeks before the start of the tournament. He talked about how much of a difficult task it is to face players like Djokovic and Krygios on grass. He said, “I always said that I think that I can win every tournament where I play. On grass is more complicated because I’m not that experienced.”

He added, “The matches I played have been more difficult. Obviously, Djokovic alongside Federer are among the best players who have played on grass. It is going to be difficult. Krygios has already played a final at Wimbledon. His tennis is very good on grass. I’m not going to say that I cannot beat Djokovic, but here I’ve got fewer chances than on other surfaces.” He concluded by saying, “Krygios has more chance of beating Djokovic than anyone.”
