Nick Kyrgios is brave on court and brave in real life. On 1st May morning, Kyrgios’ mother Norlaila Kyrgios was robbed at gunpoint at his house in Canberra. The robber told Kyrgios’ mother to handover the player’s green Tesla’s keys while holding a long barrel rifle. A very frightened Norlaila handed him the keys and the robber drove away.

Norlaila woke up everyone who was sleeping in the house and Nick Kyrgios‘ agent Daniel Horsfall called the police. The quick witted Nick Kyrgios immediately started tracking his car using the Tesla app and passed on the information to the police. He also limited the speed limit of the car to 80 km/hr using the Tesla app so that the robber couldn’t get too far.

Nick Kyrgios’ mother is dealing with the Post trauma of the event and the family refised to speak up about the shocking event till the dust settles down on it. The police did not reveal the name of the robber. He is 32 year old and is facing 5 charges on him – aggravated robbery, driving a stolen vehicle, furious driving, and failing to stop for police. The robber also told the police he had no recollection of the event as he recently changed his medication.

Nick Kyrgios is not alien to police charges himself. Recently he was in media attention when a court passed its verdict on his assault charges. Nick Kyrgios’s ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari said that the Aussie had pushed his girlfriend violently. In February 2023, the court dismissed the charges after the tennis star pleaded guilty. The court declared the matter was “low-level” and indicated Kyrgios was not a risk of reoffending. Here’s hoping Nick Kyrgios has no more tete-a-tete with police and the player could focus on tennis.
