One of the very best in the business, Nick Kyrgios has always forced the cameras on him whenever he stepped foot on the court. Known for his impressive striking ability and whole arsenal of shots, Kyrgios has been on the disappointing side of the sport. He has only played one match this year missing the entire season due to a knee injury keeping him out of even his favorite, Wimbledon Championships.
Lately, there had been rumors about him returning to the Canadian Open, set to take place this week but the Australian player has dropped a statement stating that he won’t be participating in the tournament. He is still not 100% fit and doesn’t want to risk his knee which might lead him to a bigger injury which can also rule him out of the last Grand Slam of the year, the US Open.
Another incident took place on Twitter when a journalist named, Jose Morgado talked about Spanish star, Pablo Carreno Busta. Pablo has also been suffering intensively with several injuries with his last appearance being way back in February. Krygios was not happy with the way journalists are always biased against him as he bashed Morgado. With respect to Pablo’s withdrawal, he said, “Hope he gets well soon. Wish I got similar understanding when missing tournaments with injury.”
How Nick Kyrgios has been dropping down the pecking order due to his injury issues?
Loved by a lot of fans because of his aggressive attitude on the pitch, Nick Kyrgios has been fighting his injuries for a long time now. And his fans fear that it will just be time until he loses hope and closes down his career once and for all. Having been on blistering form last year making it to the Wimbledon final, everyone expected 2023 to be Nick’s revelation year but since then, he hasn’t been able to cope up with his body too well.
Being ranked between 10 to 30 in the last few years, never dropping down below the 40 mark, it looks like Nick will finally drop down the pecking order. Having just played one match this year losing against Wu Yibing in the Stuttgart Open, Nick’s withdrawal from the Canadian Open will lead him to move out of the ATP Top 100 rankings soon.
