A fan tweeted that while Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were grueling it out playing for 3 hours, Nick Kyrgios was just tweeting about it. The fan wrote, “Just remember Novak Djokovic vs. Carlos Alcaraz dueling it out for 3 hours the next time Nick Kyrgios comes on Twitter to tell us all that he’s good for the game.“
Kyrgios replied by denying that he never said Djokovic and Alcaraz weren’t good for the game. Nevertheless, he also added that the person would be lying if they said that he was not good at the game.
That’s not all, as per the tennis professional himself, he is good because he was featured in the leading episodes of the Netflix documentary series “Break Point“. He also remarked that he was allegedly the one who put tennis back on the map. His quote was not taken lightly by tennis fans.
According to the statistics, Break Point did not even make it to the global top ten of the most-watched shows in the first week. Also, one fan pointed out that the Netflix documentary, unlike the Formula 1 series, did not do much for the tennis world. The fan further added that all it did was earn some extra money for the players.
Nick Kyrgios gives hope of a comeback
The 28-year-old gave some optimism to his fans after a year plagued by injuries. The Australian player has been struggling with wrist and knee problems. The player has missed all four major Grand Slam tournaments. He has even dropped from the top 100 of the ATP rankings because of his withdrawal.
He gave a positive update on Instagram for his fans. He posted a picture of his gym workout and told the fans to be patient. “Trust me, I still have some fire left in the tank; my body just needs time to recover and get back.” He also added that he is hoping to recreate another season like last year.
The previous year, the tennis star had a great season and went on to become a Wimbledon finalist. The Australian, unfortunately, lost to Serbian ace Djokovic. “Everything off-court is doing great. I am eyeing to come back and have a season like my last again.”
