The Laver Cup which did not have much of the limelight this year without any of the top players in the world competing suddenly became the talk of the town suddenly over a dramatic exchange between the French Veteran Gael Monfils and the Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime. The exchange of words was later circulated in the tennis world the same fortnight, as expected.

The controversy was given a further high when the Australian box office star Nick Kyrgios took it to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the video of them having the fight with a caption saying these controversies are the beauty of the Laver Cup. In addition, his tweet got enough engagements on the top of Laver Cup’s official shared video to add more spices.

Nick Kyrgios is expected to return next year

The American box office player Nick Kyrgios was one of the most prominent names to withdraw from the 2023 US Open first. The US Open announced on its official social media handle, “The 2022 quarterfinalist will miss this year’s event,” which was a shock to the Kyrgios fans. Altogether, the tennis fans were expecting the Australian to be back on the tour in the coming months. He has only played a single match the entire year where he lost in the first round of the Stuttgart Open.

Kyrgios had his breakthrough year in 2022 as he won his first Grand Slam title in doubles with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in his home Grand Slam to start off the year. Following the triumph and skipping the clay court season, the American star reached his first Grand Slam finals in Wimbledon before succumbing to the Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic.

With a year of almost no tennis, the tennis world is eagerly looking forward to seeing the Australian star back on tour in the next year.
