Simona Halep, the two-time Grand Slam champion has faced a major setback in her career as she failed to clear the dope test. During the US Open, her blood samples had traces of an illegal substance called roxadustat which has been forbidden in the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.
Due to failing the pass the drug test, she has been suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency. The former world number one suspension stands till the investigation is completed by the designated authorities. She even released her statement on her social media account where she claimed her innocence and was completely unaware of taking the prohibited substance.
As soon as the news broke out, it became quite a questionable topic of decision. Nick Kyrgios, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist was the next to share his thoughts and his reaction to Halep’s suspension controversy was very much sardonic and grabbed everyone’s attention. The Aussie put a message that put everyone in doubt about his intentions as he posted “Mmhmm.”

Simona Halep had been eliminated in the first round of the US Open. Post her exit, she underwent nose surgery and further announced ber ending her season. Her premature end to the season might be a boon since the WTA is yet to comment on the situation and she can hope to be free before the next season begins. She is at risk of facing a suspension of up to four years.
After the exit at US Open, she faced a setback in her personal life as she announced her divorce from her ex-husband Toni Iuruc within a year of their marriage. But Iuruc even came out in support to speak about the fairness, character, and integrity of the former world No.1 and further expressed justified her innocent and graceful behavior. He even claimed that he cannot imagine such an act from her ex-wife.
As she was still recovering from the personal grief and was looking to come out stronger, this ban will deter her journey, especially her comeback. The 2019 Wimbledon singles champion would need all the support in the world as she is looking to fight against all charges that have until now been leveled against her.
