Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has made headlines once again. This time, it’s not for his controversial remarks or fiery on-court antics, but for a unique and eye-catching addition to his body art collection. Kyrgios recently unveiled a sprawling tattoo on his entire back, featuring iconic characters from the popular Nintendo game and TV series, Pokemon.

Kyrgios has had a turbulent 2023 season. He has been largely unable to continue his good vein of form from 2022 owing to numerous injuries which have kept the mercurial tennis star on the sidelines.

At the beginning of the year, Kyrgios faced legal trouble after pleading guilty to assaulting his former girlfriend Chiara Passari. Additionally, Kyrgios opened up about his mental health struggles following his early exit from the 2019 Wimbledon and his recent injury struggles.

During what has so far been a challenging period for Kyrgios, he has made mention of his current girlfriend Costeen Hatzi, who he said has been his constant support. “She (Costeen Hatzi) is always present, and supports me no matter the situation,” Kyrgios wrote during a Q & A session on Instagram. Hatzi is a regular feature in the stands at his matches.
