Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has hinted at his comeback with a cryptic post on Instagram. The 2022 Wimbledon finalist posted a highlight reel of some of his memorable shots on Instagram with the caption: “….loading”. This has led many fans to think that he is finally making a comeback to tennis. The Australian played only one match in 2023.

Nick Kyrgios was a ‘transformed’ player in 2022, according to his own words. After fighting several battles on and off the court for several years, it finally seemed like Kyrgios had figured things out and was ready to cement a proper footing in the game. He made it to the finals of Wimbledon and reached the quarterfinals of the US Open. After his loss against Karen Khachanov, he was disappointed upon not being able to proceed to the next rounds, as neither Rafael Nadal nor Novak Djokovic were lying in wait and it was a great opportunity to win his first Grand Slam.

Skip to a year later, and Nick Kyrgios has only played 4 matches since his US Open loss against Karen Khachanov. He missed the first part of 2023 due to knee surgery and could not participate in the Australian Open. Later in June, he tried to make a comeback and played one match in Stuttgart but had a wrist issue, which practically ended his season. He is suffering from the same wrist issue even now and had to withdraw from the 2024 Australian Open for it.

This Instagram post is the first sign at Kyrgios’ possible return in a long time and his fans are thus hopeful. The Australian is known as one of the most entertaining players in the world and has a huge following. “Need to see more of this magic bro, come back when you’re ready,” a particular fan commented on the post.

Nick Kyrgios said that 2023 was a really tough year

Back when Nick Kyrgios announced on his OnlyFans account that he was withdrawing from the 2024 Australian Open as well, he shared that 2023 had been a really difficult year for him as it was plagued with injuries. He had to sit out the entire season for some reason or the other and missing out on the Australian Open two seasons in a row is really disappointing.

“Obviously had a really tough year with injury, had that knee surgery and came back a little bit too soon and set me back a little bit, then obviously had some wrist issues,” Kyrgios said.

“Obviously heartbreaking. I’ve had so many amazing memories there and I just want to really get back to playing at the top of my game and doing it right and I need a little more time,” he added.

Nick Kyrgios regrets that his career was plagued with injuries when he was so close to winning his first Grand Slam. He also requested that his fans bear with him until he prepares his body to get back at the top again.
