World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is currently on a mini-break from tennis. Following his shocking third-round exit from the 2024 Indian Wells Masters, the Serb has taken some time off from his beloved sport.
He was defeated by Italian youngster Luca Nardi in the third round in a controversial clash. Days after his exit, the Serb announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Miami Masters. Nole was expected to return to the event for the first time since 2019. However, he cited family reasons and chose to not participate.

He has however stayed in the USA and is currently making frequent appearances at NBA matches. Days after Roger Federer met Golden State Warriors (GSW) legend Steph Curry, Nole also made a similar trip. He traded his racket with the iconic shooter as he attended GSW’s match against the LA Lakers.
Djokovic also went on to meet Lakers star LeBron James, the man with the most points scored in NBA history. The two posed for pictures and had some fun conversations as well as video and images went viral on social media. The 24-time Grand Slam singles title winner then took a leaf out of James’ book.
He was seen playing at the Crypto.com Arena (previously the Staples Center), the home stadium of the Lakers. Djokovic fainted a move before shooting a perfect 3-pointer. He uploaded the video on his Instagram and tagged James with a cheeky caption.
Not too bad ha?@kingjamesWrote Djokovic.
As tennis and basketball fans went crazy seeing Djokovic’s skills, his ‘bromance partner’ Nick Kyrgios also joined in. The Aussie is a big basketball fan having grown up playing it. He took to his Instagram story to praise Nole for the shot. He also commented on the Serb’s post on Instagram.

Novak Djokovic’s next event is yet to be confirmed

The event in Monaco will commence on 7th April and Djokovic rarely misses out playing there. A former two-time champ at the event, Djokovic is likely to turn up for the Masters event yet again.
With the Serbian Open also canceled by the ATP recently, a revised clay schedule should be official in the coming days from the 10-time Australian Open‘s camp. As for Kyrgios, he continues his rehab for the injury that has kept him out of action so far. Given his dislike for clay courts, it’s unlikely he will return soon.
