Nick Kyrgios is one of the big names missing from the Tour this year. The Australian had shown some great commitment in the 2022 season rising expectations from him, once again. The expectations of the fans were shattered but this time it was due to the player’s bad luck.
Kyrgios is absent from the ATP Tour ever since October 2022. After his runner-up finish in Wimbledon and quarter-final run at the US Open, Kyrgios’ seriousness was publicly evident. His motivation and hunger for success was however hampered by his knee that eventually required surgery and has not allowed him to make his season debut so far.
As he recovers and prepares for the remainder of the season, he turned to coaching. While it was just a brief advice, that too virtually, the Australian answered Bianca Andreescu‘s call for help. The Canadian, preparing for the 2023 French Open, reached out to the Australian mercurial on Twitter asking for suggestions on how to hit a tweener.
Andreescu uploaded a compilation of her failed tweener attempts and tagged Kyrgios for his advice. Kyrgios, famous for trick shots, especially the tweener, replied saying, “You have to let the ball drop a little more.”

Bianca Andreescu reaches French Open winless on clay

While Nick Kyrgios is confirmed out from the 2023 French Open, Bianca Andreescu will be making the trip to Paris. The Canadian had slowly gained some momentum before injuring herself in the 2023 Miami Open. The mid-match withdrawal and injury break dented her progress.
She made her clay debut for the season at the 2023 Madrid Open but lost in the very first match. The former US Open champ then played at the 2023 Italian Open but suffered a similar fate. She will reach the Roland Garros without a win on clay making her chances at the Slam look slim. Another factor that affects her chances at the Major is her record at the tournament.
Andreescu failed to reach the main-draw in 2017 and 2018 losing in qualifiers both times. She made her main-draw debut in 2019 but an injury forced her to retire before her second-round match. Her fate was no different in 2021 going out in the first round before losing in the second round in 2022 again. Ahead of the 2023 campaign, she is 4-4 at the Major.
As for Kyrgios, he will possibly return for the grass season as the surface suits his playing style as well. A runner-up in Wimbledon last year, Kyrgios will hope to take another shot at winning his maiden Grand Slam singles title.
