“What a self-harming idiot” Tennis Twitter mauls Nick Kyrgios with loathe after he withdraws from Japan Open minutes before quarterfinal

This year’s Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from both his Tokyo Open singles quarterfinal and doubles semifinal matches due to injury in an announcement that came only a few minutes before his QF match against Taylor Fritz.

As things stand, Kyrgios has a lot to lose from the pullout as this could be a major blow to this ATP Finals qualification chances.

However, the Australian could very likely qualify for Turin for both singles and doubles based on his Wimbledon and Australian Open performances this season.

Tennis Twitter relishes Nick Kyrgios’ withdrawal as another mockery opportunity

Tennis fans on Twitter were not impressed at all with Kyrgios’ self-harming tactics as many were not able to understand the mystery behind yet another seemingly unreasonable and abrupt decision.

Some were also in a joking mood considering the Australian has acted in a similar manner many-a-times before.

It is reported that Kyrgios withdrew because of trouble with his left knee.

Some Kyrgios fans couldn’t help express their frustration at yet another withdrawal and a waste of talent.

A few also took the debate back to Wimbledon where Kyrgios reached the finals this year claiming that the tournament wasn’t serious business in 2022 because of the fact that there were no ranking points at stake and Russian players of the likes of former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev were banned because of the conflict with Ukraine.

All-in-all, it’s been a sad year for Kyrgios once again despite him having performed so well in the Grand Slams because the US Open was a real lost opportunity for him after he knocked out Medvedev and then lost in the quarterfinals to an unlikely Karen Khachanov.

Although Kyrgios did do well for himself by winning the Australian Open doubles title this year along with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis, his main focus as per him is singles where all the money lies too in reality.

If Kyrgios does manage to qualify for the ATP Finals this year, it will be interesting to see how far he can go with such good form.
