Nick Kyrgios, the Australian tennis player known for his vocal nature both on and off the court, was recently caught in a war of words on Twitter with the legendary coach Boris Becker. Another legend of the game, Rennae Stubbs, also backed up the German and made a few comments on Kyrgios.
The 28-year-old was recently comparing the generations of tennis and mentioned how the game was extremely slow back then. As per the tennis professional himself, the service speed was very slow, whereas he consistently served faster than that.
On top of that, he compared two of the greats of tennis from different generations, Novak Djokovic and Pete Sampras, and believes that Novak would clean up the American.
As expected, Boris Becker did not take this comment lightly and retorted back in a pretty brutal manner, insulting the Australian.
Another former tennis player, Rennae Stubbs, also commented in support of Becker, calling out Kyrgios for being disrespectful. She further called him out to stop comparing generations as the sport evolves, making the players also evolve from the old style and adapt to the new modern way of playing tennis, which is highly competitive.
Rennae Stubbs calls it stupid to compare generations in tennis as it is very pointless
After Boris Becker openly retorted against Nick Kyrgios on X, Rennae Stubbs also backs up the German legend and criticizes Kyrgios for showing disrespect to all the generational legends of the game who built the foundation of the sport.
She finds it pointless to compare the different eras of the sport and firmly calls it stupid. The generational legends have created the foundation for young people to play on.
The sport has evolved a lot; the racquets have changed, the surfaces are different, and the sport itself is moving fast, with every player trying to play their best tennis to survive in this very competitive league.
With the internet world evolving, it has become essential for any public figure to watch what they are publicly saying, and this is an example of what not to say as it may bring out a lot of controversies.
Nick has been starting fires through his statements and will continue to do it even more now that he is recovering from an injury and is out of the game.
