Carlos Alcaraz with Nike shoes
Nike comes up with some fresh ideas to celebrate the World No.1 ranking achieved by the Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz (current World No.2). Alcaraz posted the same on his personal social media handle showing the happiness of having some dedicated artwork in the same by Nike.
From the video, it is clear that the new pair of signature tennis shoes has the following markings on it: ‘Just do 1t‘ celebrating him reaching world No.1 – ‘Cabeza, Corazon, Cojones‘ in text + icons – the three C’s life mantra his grandfather passed on to him.
The current US Open champion is back in the US for the first time after his triumph last year now. He will play Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round of the Indian Wells tournament on Sunday after getting a first-round bye. If he can win his first ATP-1000 Indian Wells Masters title in the coming weeks, there are chances of him becoming the World No.1 player again with Novak Djokovic denied entry to the USA for his vaccination status.
Carlos Alcaraz will be back for Indian Wells after the hamstring injury
A healthy Alcaraz is confident of coming back to competitive tennis in the tennis paradise. He will chase the World No.1 ranking yet again in the USA after the historic triumph in the last year’s US Open where he beat Casper Ruud to become the youngest World No.1 player ever in the history of tennis.
For the uninitiated, the Spanish teen suffered a hamstring injury during the final of the Rio Open. It also forced him to withdraw from the Acapulco Open. Injury concerns have been an issue for the former World No.1 since his maiden Grand Slam title. He had to withdraw from the ATP final in 2022 and the Australian Open in 2023 as well.
After landing in the tennis paradise, Alcaraz said that he is confident enough to be back but does not consider him the favorite here. As he said, “I don’t consider myself a favorite to win the tournament because [it has been] a long time since I played on hard court. Of course, there are a lot of great players in this draw that have chances to win the tournament.”
