Nikola Jokic and Novak Djokovic are the two most popular Serbian players in the world. Though they don’t play the same sport, both have immense respect and get great inspiration from one another. Jokic is currently the biggest talk of the town in the NBA circuit. Nikola Jokic led his team, the Denver Nuggets, to their first-ever NBA finals by defeating LA Lakers 113 to 111 in a very tight match.

In the post-match conference, Jokic was jokingly asked by an interviewer whether he has been in touch with compatriot Novak Djokovic. What followed was a very heartwarming response from the Serbian. He said though he might not keep in touch with the World No. 3 he has just immense respect for him and wants to emulate him. “He is the guy you look up. I want to be like him.”

Nikola Jokic is famous for his humility despite his stature. And he feels that Djokovic is an idol for kids and a much bigger sports star than he could be. He added, “He is doing something great for Serbia, Kids, and everything. He ended his speech on Djokovic by saying, “We cannot be compared.”

June is going to be a big month professionally for both the players. The Nuggets will embark on the seven matches Finals journey on 1st August. Whereas Djokovic will begin his 19th campaign at the Roland Garros 2023. He played at Roland Garros for the first time ever in 2005. Of the 18 appearances, Novak Djokovic has reached at least quarter-final stage 16 times.
