Despite being one of the most talented players in their fields, they often receive a lot of hate from the fans. Novak Djokovic is one of those players who has revolutionized tennis but still gets on the receiving end of all the trolls and hatred

His former coach Nikola Pilić got defensive towards his most prized pupil, dismissing the negativity from the outside and the Western criticism. In an interview with Vecernje Novosti, a Serbian media outlet, the coach discussed the importance of being a good coach who had envisioned his pupil’s final prize.

After three months, both he [Djokovic] and I saw that it was better, and after six months even better. He was hurting, I was hurting all over, too. But we made it.

Additionally, he points out the Western community for showering hate on Djokovic despite all the good he does for the community and says that they are unimportant and to just let them be.

His former coach Pilić, doubles this by saying that Djokovic is a man who is born once in a hundred years and has a great personality and charisma.

The Balkans have their great qualities, not only in sports, but also a lot of negative, wild things. But one day it will be clear to everyone that Novak is a man who is born once in a hundred years. And the whole region loves him.

Despite the effort he puts in, Djokovic manages to get a lot of hate from fans and is advised by his former coach to just overlook them and “let them be”.

But there are also some who are jealous. Such always exist. They are not important. Novak has both personality and charisma, and that bothers the West a lot. Let them mind.

Nonetheless, he is one of the favorites of the sport, with a huge fan base to himself. Djokovic will now be seen at the Australian Open where he will defend his title against all the talent from the draw.

After a decent run at the United Cup, the Serbian faced a hurdle in the form of Alex de Minaur which saw him and his country out of the tournament. Looking for redemption, the Serbian will aim to bounce back stronger with a Grand Slam in his pocket at the start of a season.
