Nikoloz Basilashvili, the 30-year-old Georgian professional is one of the star players of this generation, being as high as ranked world number 16 back in 2019. The Georgian professional has been rather surrounded by controversies this year, accused of being involved in match-fixing and domestic violence from his ex-wife.

The Georgian has been suffering from poor form as he recently faced early exits from the Swedish Open, German Open, and the Cincinnati Masters tournament. His poor form comes from the controversies that the Georgian is surrounded by, he is scheduled to stand on trial over a domestic violence case.

Back in 2020, Nikoloz Basilashvili was accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife Nelli Dorokashvili, back then the Georgian professional was accused of domestic in the presence of a minor (his son). The player denied the claims but was arrested the same week, he got released on bail of $31,000 after a week.

It was reported that the allegations happened in the presence of Basilashvili’s son, responding to which he said, “Special bond with my son obligates me to not respond to unsubstantiated allegations, but I believe that I’ll prove the truth in court with the help of my lawyers.

The player’s family also denied the claims saying, “We declare with full responsibility that the information about the violence is untrue, and there is no evidence proving this. This is not the first time that the former wife of Nikoloz Nelly Dorokashvili is trying to inflict moral, financial, and reputation damage on Nikoloz and his family.

Continuing the case, there is a court hearing tomorrow in the Tbilisi City Court and according to Ben Rothenberg, Basilashvili’s wife, Nelli will be on the stand witnessing the hearing. It will be open to the media and the Georgian professional has denied all claims.

Nikoloz Basilashvili recently played at the Cincinnati masters event where he lost quickly by 6-0, 6-1 to Mackenzie Mcdonald.
