Serena Williams, the 23-time singles Grand Slam champion the most by any player in the Open era, recently revealed the news about her retirement which was a shocker for all. The American announced that she will play her last match at the US Open where she won her first Grand Slam title in the year 1999 and also in front of her country. She is looking forward to enjoying the last few moments of her glorious career which inspired millions of people and lasted almost over two decades.
The American player also revealed the fact that she will discover a new life post her retirement but will miss playing. She got an emotional farewell at the National Bank Open in Toronto where she lost in the second round to Belinda Bencic of Canada in straight sets. She was looking forward to playing next at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati as preparation for the US Open 2022 which will be the final Grand Slam appearance of her career.

She is married to Alexis Ohanian, who is an internet entrepreneur and investor and also the co-founder of Reddit. They have a five-year-old daughter Olympia Ohanian. Alexis recently, in a post on his social media accounts, talked about the amount of love and respect his wife Serena has been receiving from the world and it is still continuing which is totally unmatched and something he could not believe himself. He spoke “I’ve seen over the last 7 years how much y’all love my wife—what she means to so many, worldwide. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen.“
He further added that people sometimes compare both of us who have left a bigger legacy behind but it is something that needs no comparison at all. He said that Serena’s legacy is no comparison with the success and legacy he has created even though Reddit is one of the most successful social media platforms. He added “Plenty of folks have told me ‘how Reddit changed their life,’ but the scale & impact of “how Serena changed my life” stories absolutely dwarfs it.”
Ohanian has always stood in support of his wife Serena and especially after the retirement news erupted, he continually in praise her decisions and credited her for being the support system behind his success.
