Stefanos Tsitsipas had been off-color lately but he bounced straight back at the beginning of the clay season to defend his title in Monte-Carlo masters. He also reached the quarterfinals of the Barcelona Open but lost to the eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz after a touch match. Tsitsipas was the runner-up of the French Open 2021 and he is one of the favorites this year too. He is also on the better side of the draw in Madrid Open 2022 and he has a much easier way into the finals at Madrid.
The Wimbledon ban has been quite a hot topic in the tennis world with many of the top players unable to compete in the Championships after the LTA decided to impose a ban on Russian and Belarusian players. Tsitsipas also his opinion about the ban.

Many top players including Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Aryna Sabalenka, and Victoria Azarenka won’t be able to compete as a consequence of the ban. Tsitsipas defended his fellow tennis players.
“It is not nice that they are not allowed to play, I believe. They have done nothing wrong to be automatically defaulted from that competition,” said Tsitsipas, as reported by Express Sports
Tsitsipas believes that it is not right for the players to suffer such a big blow without any fault of their own. Wimbledon is the oldest and most prestigious tournament in tennis and this decision of Wimbledon would cause a lot of damage to the career of those players as they won’t be able to compete for the biggest title.
Tsitsipas is present in Madrid to play for the title and iron out the edges in his game before he sets sight for the French Open where he was the runner-up in the 2021 season.
