At the Monte-Carlo Masters quarterfinals, Andrey Rublev expressed his fondness for Grigor Dimitrov, citing his attractive looks and style of play as reasons why he is loved by many. Rublev defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets, winning the first set in just seven games before holding his nerve in a much more competitive second set to take the match 6-1, 7-6(5).

Speaking to the Tennis Channel after his victory, Rublev gushed about his good friend Dimitrov, who he believes is admired by everyone for his looks and style of play. Rublev also joked that Dimitrov thinks everyone is in love with him. “I don’t know but the way he [Dimitrov] looks I think. Everyone’s in love with him and himself as well, he thinks everyone’s in love with him. So, it’s like a combo,” Rublev said.

Furthermore, Rublev praised Dimitrov’s tennis technique, specifically his backhand and forehand strokes. Despite sometimes missing the mark, Rublev found them to be beautifully executed. “I think it’s the way he looks and the way he plays tennis, like he does the backhand, hits the net but it’s so beautiful, like, beautiful backhand and forehand, amazing technique,” he stated. “It doesn’t matter he hit winner, does the same mistake, but it looks perfect always.”
